After additional sanctions were declared by the U.S. and Spain, Castro called a million person protest in Havana. What that meant in his Cuba was that all businesses were forced to close and every citizen was required to show up, march, and hear what turned out this day to be a three hour speech.
20 years ago, I was able to spend a summer abroad studying in Cuba, a rare opportunity for an American student. Olympus OM 10 35mm Camera in hand, I hoped to capture the true spirit, struggle, and resilience of the Cuban people.
All photos were shot using Kodak Portra Pro Color Film, Kodak Ektar Pro Color Film, and for Black & White shots, Kodak TRI-X Pro Film.
